Lighthouse Law Firms team consists of Joshua T. Hale and Kathy Marshall
Joshua is what some would consider an "old-fashioned" lawyer in the sense that he does not shy away from handling matters outside his specialty.
He enjoys learning new concepts and using his legal acumen to serve his clients.
Basically, if you have a legal issue, Joshua is committed to making sure your needs are met.
Joshua is the founder and owner of Lighthouse Law Firm. He is married to Jessica Griffith Hale, who was born and raised in Macon, and they have one son, John “Wilder” Hale. He graduated cum laude from Mercer University’s Walter F. George School of Law, where he served in numerous capacities, including as the Chief Justice of the Honor Court and the Georgia Survey Editor of the Mercer Law Review. He also has a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Georgetown College, where he played football.
A unique practice has grown up around Joshua that is primarily focused on real estate transactions. He routinely handles every aspect of deals from contract through closing, including issuing title insurance policies. Dovetailing with his transactional practice, Joshua offers business counsel. He serves as general counsel for several business and homeowner’s associations.
While specializing in transactional work, what makes his practice unique is that he handles a variety of legal matters for people in the community. Last, but not least, Joshua is invested in his community. Not only does he perform a significant amount of pro bono legal work, but he is involved in numerous local charitable efforts. Namely, he is a member of the Griffith Family Charitable Foundation, serves on Woodfield Academy’s Board of Trustees, and is actively involved in the local addiction recovery community. He sits on the board of Centenary Community Ministries, Inc. with whom he has partnered to establish and operate the Centenary Transitional House, which is a men’s residential addiction treatment program.
Kathy was born and raised in Macon, Georgia.
She graduated from Central High School and earned her Associate Degree from Macon State College.
She is a member of Bellevue Baptist Church.
She has been married to Sidney Marshall for over 20 years and they have two daughters, Amber and Madison.
Kathy’s professional career has been steeped in real estate from every angle for roughly 20 years. She got her feet wet at Century South Bank where she worked in the mortgage department for several years. She expanded her skills by transitioning into a law firm where she served as a Legal Assistant handling real estate closings for roughly five (5) years. Then, she teamed up with Atlantic Southern Bank’s mortgage department and spent the next seven (7) years handling all types of lending, yet with a focus on commercial work. Kathy’s exposure to commercial transactions opened a door for her to re-enter the legal transactional domain. From 2012 until May, 2016 she worked at a Macon law firm handling complex commercial transactions, most of which were large land deals.
In May of 2016, Kathy helped get Lighthouse Law Firm up and running. While her skills and experience are invaluable, Kathy’s passion for serving clients is perhaps her greatest attribute. She is a tireless worker who embodies the mission of Lighthouse Law Firm.
